Mebane, NC - A Great Small Town Lifestyle

What used to be a small village has become a “hot” and “hip” place to live for young families, millennials and even retirees. The town of Mebane has lots to offer each of these groups. With a population totaling around only 14,000 the median income for Mebane residents hovers around $51,000 with a median age of under 35 years old.

It’s easy to see why this little town has such appeal. First, Mebane’s location is ideal. Located midway between the Triangle and Triad, Mebane straddles the Alamance and Orange County lines. This means that families with bread winners working in the Triangle and Triad are ideally located for an easy commute in both directions. From historic homes to modern new home neighborhoods and quaint shops to beautiful golf courses, Mebane offers a very nice “mix” that makes for a fun place to live. There is also a mix of global, national and local businesses located in Mebane that offers opportunities as well as bringing interesting new families to the neighborhood for a cross-cultural environment.

Shopping in Mebane has to start at the Tanger Outlets located just off I-40/85. Folks travel from far and wide to visit this vibrant collection of outlet shops to find that great deal on the latest clothing trends.

Lake Michael - Sunset Paddle

To get your cultural “fix” in Mebane the Mebane Arts and Community Center (MACC) puts on numerous events during the year. There is always a revolving art display and residents love the July 4th Family Music Festival in the summer and the Winter Wonderland Crafty Show in the winter.

If you are moving to Mebane you may be interested in an historic home but many people these days demand the energy efficiency, the comfort and the pure luxury that only new construction homes can provide. Cambridge Park in Mebane is one of the newer communities that offers the whole package. This community will have its own pool and clubhouse and is located only two miles from Garrett Elementary School. Home prices range from the low to mid $200’s.
